One of my favorite organizations, Healthy Child Healthy World, has just released a fantastic resource to help parents and teachers understand and mitigate the potential health-related and environmental problems that are present in many school classrooms and daycares. We can try to keep our homes as nontoxic and safe as possible, but the reality is that children spend a significant chunk of each day at school, and unfortunately our schools aren't very clean and pure - Half are estimated to have poor indoor air quality based on EPA standards, which is a sign that products and materials within our schools are off-gassing harmful chemicals. The Easy Steps to Healthy Schools & Daycares ebook provides guidance on topics such as cleaning and art supplies, school lunches and classroom snacks, pesticides on the playground, and safe paint, flooring, and water. Be an advocate for greener, cleaner schools by passing this along to the parents and teachers you know so we can all follow Healthy Child Healthy World's simple suggestions. Thank you!
